Globe Trotting and New Beginnings

Sara is 10 months old… where has time gone? We are on the first birthday countdown and I don’t know how I feel about it… I love watching Sara grow and these last 3-4 months have been SO much fun but at the same time I miss her when she was a little teeny tiny cuddle bug.

Here is our (late) update 🙂

At 10 months, Sara

  • can crawl like a champ! Put her down and off she goes!
  • can eat finger foods (puffs, blueberries, pieces of fruit, pieces of french toast)
  • is a picky eater… sigh! She eats what she likes and spits out anything she doesn’t. You can’t sneak in a bite of anything that she doesn’t like!
  • is a screamer! You can’t make her do anything she doesn’t want to. She is a VERY strong willed baby!
  • is now exploring everything! She likes to play with everything except her toys. iPhone, tv remote, apple tv remote. There was a week where we lost all the remotes in our house!
  • can pull herself up and stand and sometimes will take a step but she knows she can get to it fast if she crawls so just sits down and speeds off.
  • loves her friend Audrey except does’t know how to play with her yet.
  • Can wave bye and give high 5’s
  • gives wet slobbery kisses.
  • loves popsicles (strawberry, kiwi, orange)
  • is obsessed with cats and dogs. She has been training hard on her crawl speed up so she can catch up to Stoli and “pet” him.

Needless to say, she continues to amaze me each day and can melt my heart with a quick flash of her toothless smile 🙂

And there’s that toothless smile that melts my heart…

You are 5 months old. How is this possible? Just a few months back you were in my tummy twisting and turning in the middle of the night.

I feel such immense love for you that I cannot explain. I find everything you do so so cute. I think it is safe to say that you have me wrapped around your little finger!

You are developing such a personality!

Your crocodile tears – the way you cough asking to be picked up. At first we actually thought you had a cough but we soon caught on! 🙂

Your dad says that you have learned from the best (me!) 😛

The big big smiles you give your Nana, Nani, Daddy and me to brighten up our days.

You now splash water when you get into the tub during bathtime and then give a big smile.

Your giggles make us  drop whatever we are doing and come running…

When you go for a walk in your ergo, you get super silent and just want to watch the trees and the people.

The way you always fall asleep in the ergo just when we are 1 block away from home! So whoever is carrying you has to go for another walk or keep wearing you while you take a mini nap.

The way you sing/talk “aah aah aah” continuously without stopping! 🙂

If we give you our fingers you hold them and pull yourself up

You know when you want something and you KNOW when you don’t!

Not too long ago, you were just a little newborn that slept, ate and pooped and now you are a little person. I know the fun is just beginning and honestly I can’t wait!

This was an eventful month! We did ALOT this month!
1. Sara had her naming ceremony and her Sameer Chacha came to meet her. We missed seeing Zejfa Chachi this time but hopefully we will see her in a couple months.
2. Sara made a trip to see her Daddy at the SF Google office
3. Sara made a trip to see her Mommy’s office and meet all her friends
4. We went on our first vacation with lil Miss Sara. This was her first time on an airplane and her first international trip! Whoa! Yea we were brave! We took a trip to Switzerland and France. One of Sahir’s friend from high school was getting married so a bunch of friends decided to meet up and rent a chalet and just hang out.

We didn’t get to do a lot since Sara is still so little and everything had to be planned around her feeding schedule but it was nice to just get away from the daily routine.

Here are some of our travel essentials with a 3 month of infant –
– We traveled with our UPPAbaby Vista stroller and Carseat. Albeit expensive, this is a great sturdy stroller. We kept joking that it could probably run over some of the tiny cars in Europe 🙂 It worked really well on the cobblestone paths and the big storage underneath helped carry a lot of stuff.
Sleep Sheep – Sara just knows its time to sleep when this thing turns on.
– Her Paci’s
Blankets (swaddles and others) These are just needed for everything!
– Burpy Bibs
Ergo Carrier to carry her around in when you don’t want to take the stroller
– Her bath supplies (soap, shampoo, oil for massages), her healthcare kit and the nose frida
Infant Tylenol (we didn’t need to use it but we carried it along just in case) and Gripe water

At this time, she was too young for toys. We did carry a couple of rattles but we didn’t end up using them and of course her clothes, and diapers.

On the flight to Zurich, she slept most of the way and we had to wake her up to eat. On the flight back to SF, she was awake most of the time 🙂 We were jet lagged when we got back and pretty much slept at odd hours for the first few days but got back into the swing of things pretty soon.

Back home!

3 months already!

People had told me that  the first few months after you have a baby are crazy… I think it’s really hard to fathom what and how hard it is until you actually go through it.

I feel like there is a lot of emphasis on the pregnancy… very rightly so! You are growing a human being! but the first many few weeks are like a rude awakening after feeling like a diva for 9 months!   New parents need to emphasize on the first few weeks. It is HARD!  New Mama’s need a lot of support because we are stressed about everything! The baby is sleeping too much oh is everything ok? The baby is not sleeping enough oh is everything ok?? And being emotional and sleep deprived with a screaming baby doesn’t help either.

I don’t think the stress ever goes away and is part of being a parent (my mom still worries about me) you probably just get used to being stressed all the time! haha

I am just now starting to feel a little normal. I feel like have the feedings and sleep under some kind of control… There are still the crazy days but getting less as time goes on… until of course the next curve ball comes our way. Just when you think you may have figured out your baby they decide to change things up on you! But in the end it’s all worth it to see that one toothless smile. 😀

It’s been a while since I blogged, not sure what happened but I seemed to have lost my momentum there for some time… but it’s time to change that 🙂

Sahir and I would like to announce the birth of our baby girl Sara Nadine Sait!
After a long 40 hours in labor, Sara was born on her due date – May 22nd, 2013.

Sara is 7 weeks old today! The past seven weeks seem like a blur with feedings, diapers and all the stuff that comes with newborns. We are still trying to find our rhythm. Everyone says things get better after 6 -8 weeks so heres hoping! 🙂

Heres are some pics from the last few weeks  –

Hello Hello… February was a short month but it was definitely jam packed and before I knew it the month was already over… Here is the list of the ten things that made me smile in February.
  1. My V day gift from Sahir – a much wanted – Giants Blanket 😀 woo-hooo!!
  2. Had the most funnest V day with our plus 1’s – Nik and Chiku at our fav restaurant – Shalimar where Sahir was so loud that the Shalimar folks asked him to keep it down!! 🙂
  3. A last minute trip to Houston to go see Aval. We had a good time at the hospital where we did some puzzles and Amit and Aval’s mom made us some yummy Chai.
  4. Hanging out with Amit, Reema, Barbara,  Kaushal and Priya in Houston. We had a great time with them.

    Yummy Korean Dinner in Houston

  6. Trying out new Rachel Ray recipes. I love her 30 minute dinners. This month I have experimented with Orzo and Quinoa and they were both successful 🙂
  7. Finally deciding that we are not moving out of our Apartment!!! YAY!
  8. The weather people in SF predicting snow here, which would have been the first time since 1976. The snow actually never made but it did send some beautiful sunshine! 😛
  9. Happy Birthday to my sister Renu (22nd) and her husband Rakesh (15th)
  10. Finally going to twin peaks after living in SF for almost a year… 🙂
  11. A extra day off (President’s day)!!

Terribly late again – I know!! BUT I am on the ball and I am already working on my February list, so I definitely won’t be late on that one 🙂 Here ya go…

  1. The end to a cold but really fun vacation in Canada.
  2. Meeting up with Nihar and his girlfriend who were visiting San Francisco and cat/house-sitting for us 🙂
  3. Going to Orlando, Florida to run the Disney Half Marathon. It was Sahir’s first half marathon and he did great!!
  4. Planning a trip to Austin for Anar’s Baby Shower weekend. So excited to go see everyone again!
  5. Having a few chilled out weekends after a really long time. No travels, no big plans… just enjoying being home and in the city.
  6. While the rest of the country was having snow days left and right, we were fortunate enough to enjoy some really great weather. We have tried to take as much advantage as we can and spend a lot of time outdoors. The SF examiner also called it a “heat-wave” which was 67 degrees! I don’t think they have been to Texas!
  7. I got to hang with Maya for a couple of days who was in town for work. It was awesome!!
  8. Going vegetarian for a few weeks. This used to be a yearly tradition for us and then for the last couple of years we weren’t able to keep up with it but we started it again and it is a great way to detox.
  9. Getting a mani/pedi 🙂 after a really long time.
  10. Flat Stanley coming to visit from San Diego, CA! We took Flat Stanley around San Francisco and took some pictures with him and sent him back to his friend Ricky 🙂
